NEO JAPONISM - Kabuki
NEO JAPONISM - Kabuki
A collaboration between TURBO by Takuya Tada and DESIGN SETTA SANGO
Sandals from Design Setta Sango are based on traditional Japanese style sandals worn with kimono, re-engineered for today. The fashion-led designs are adapted for the demands of activity and comfort.
The Neo Japonism Collection
The Neo Japonism Collection show off the patterns and colour of contemporary Japanese textiles in the straps of the sandals. The 'outer sole' or sole of the sandal is what makes the DSS sandal so comfortable - a black rubber wedge sole which allows a slight spring when walking. The insole is made from a textured polyester fabric making it comfortable to wear.
Kabuki
With a pattern referencing the bold primaries of the Japanese Kabuki theatre costumes, the graphic pattern of blues, red, white, brown, black is matched to a black in sole.
Hanao (straps): Cotton Blue, red, brown, white black.
In Sole Material: Woven Polyester
Outer Sole Colour: Black synthetic
The Designer says: "The playful overlapping of curves is reminiscent of Kabuki's Kumadori. This is sandals which can express your personality".

- About Design Setta Sango
Started by 4 people in a town in Nara, Japan began with the intention: "we try to break with those general ideas and redesign a totally new footwear to fit our modern lifestyle."
"Traditional footwear had the image of being hard to walk in and painful and only used with a yukata or kimono. Instead we have re-fashioned every part from the sole to the embroidered detail. The straps are made to be soft and not cause chafing on skin. These are made by Setta craftspeople whose skills are passed from generation to generation.
